Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can I become a member of TRIP?
A: Check out our auditions! It is our intention for anyone interested in the Three Rivers Indoor Percussion organization to have a position. Placement is based upon audition, experience, financial commitment, and attitude.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Fees will be announced in late September, We believe they will be in the area of $600.00 (does not include audition fee)
Q: Does TRIP offer fundraising opportunities?
A: Yes! We will attempt to offer limited fundraisers. It is in your best interest to find sponsors through your high school booster organizations, family, and friends.
Q: Will TRIP interfere with Drum Corps?
A: We encourage our members to participate in Drum Corps and we will work with all members who are participating. Many of our staff have history with the activity!
Q: When are rehearsals and performances?
A: TRIP will rehearse mostly on Sundays, with some limited Friday nights and Saturday show days. Performances occur on Saturdays throughout the season.
Q: Can family members help with TRIP?
A: Yes! We are grateful for family support of our organization. There are many ways for parents to help and we will be in contact with them once we have your full membership in place.
Q: Do I have to be at every rehearsal?
A: Yes. All rehearsals are mandatory. School events such as concerts or performances do take priority and can be worked out on a case by case basis. We can work with you as long as these events are communicated early.
Q: Can I be in High School and also a member of TRIP?
A: The Winter Guard International Policy is as follows:
WGI discourages independent units from utilizing membership composed of any high school students who were previously enrolled in an active indoor percussion high school program and have not yet graduated.
TRIP will not recruit students from high school programs that have a competitive indoor percussion program. If you current high school does NOT have a indoor program, then you are welcome to audition for us. If your high school has an indoor program and we have written consent from your director stating that it is okay for you to become a member, then you can also audition.
Q: Can I attend auditions even though I know that I can not join TRIP if I'm offered a spot?
A: Absolutely. Everyone is encouraged to attend all of our audition weekend to gain experience. You'll learn some new exercises, some new approaches, and meet and play alongside some great people.
